Keep Oakhurst Park "Shady"

Hi, friends & neighbors!

As most of you know, Oakhurst Park is the “heart” of Oakhurst. But, did you know that Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP) is the service organization that takes care of Oakhurst Park and donations to FOOP pay for irrigation, maintenance and improvements to our beautiful park?

FOOP does not receive funding from Oakhurst Neighborhood Association (ONA), the Oakhurst Alliance of Neighbors Neighborhood Redevelopment Organization (NRO), or any area neighborhood association or re-development organization. FOOP relies solely on the generosity of friends and neighbors.

Since its inception just three short years ago, FOOP, as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has accomplished amazing things for Oakhurst Park!
  • FOOP sponsored Art in Oakhurst Park, at which an artist restored the toucans and neighborhood children painted the dinosaur;

  • FOOP honored our neighborhood police officers with a blue ribbon tribute to Back the Blue;
  • Junior FOOP Friends said “no to bullying” and painted the FOOP Buddy Bench;
  • FOOP partnered with the City of Fort Worth to install an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk and new drinking fountain with both pet and ADA accessibility;
  • and FOOP provided other improvements including repairs and upgrades to the irrigation system, weekly/bi-weekly ground maintenance and much, much more!

This past month, during our Spruce Up Oakhurst Park project, FOOP planted five crepe myrtle trees and seven pallets of grass!

FOOP donors work tirelessly, year-round with Mark Buse & Pecan Creek Landscape to make sure Oakhurst Park is a lovely, well-maintained venue for all area neighbors to visit, play, picnic and hold social events such as the ONA annual Easter egg hunt, Santa in the Park, Halloweenie Roast, 4th of July celebration, etc.

So, neighbors: PLEASE HELP KEEP OAKHURST PARK “SHADY!"

Donate to FOOP and add your name to the list of neighbors and friends who help keep the grass green and the flowers blooming in Oakhurst Park!

FOOP FAMILY PLAY DATE in Oakhurst Park was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!

Simply said – FRIENDS OF OAKHURST PARK (FOOP) FAMILES ARE FABULOUS!!! On July 28, 2017, even 103 degree temperatures and sweltering humidity could not keep many of them from enjoying KONA ICE and the fun of FOOP FAMILY PLAY DATE in Oakhurst Park!

Babies in buggies, puppies, the young, and the old - all gathered in Oakhurst Park to kick of the “FOOP PLAY DATES IN THE PARK” series. The series was created by FOOP Board member Julia Marut and is scheduled for 10:00am on 1st Saturday of each month beginning August 5th. Families are invited to come to the park, meet each other, and make friends and memories to last a lifetime.

Our “FABULOUS FOOP FAMILIES” love Oakhurst Park and dedicate their time, energy, and resources to keeping the grass green and flowers blooming! FOOP Families know “Oakhurst Park is the heart of our neighborhood and is the place that makes Oakhurst special!"
