Perfect morning in Oakhurst Park as FOOP planted fresh flowers! Even the frogs 🐸 & dogs 🐕 were out and about enjoying our beautiful park! And... A sweet neighbor who recently lost her husband drove by and said "Thank You FOOP!" as she donated $100 to help keep the grass green and the flowers blooming in Oakhurst Park!!!!
Hi, friends & neighbors!
As most of you know, Oakhurst Park is the “heart” of Oakhurst. But, did you know that Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP) is the service organization that takes care of Oakhurst Park and donations to FOOP pay for irrigation, maintenance and improvements to our beautiful park?
FOOP does not receive funding from Oakhurst Neighborhood Association (ONA), the Oakhurst Alliance of Neighbors Neighborhood Redevelopment Organization (NRO), or any area neighborhood association or re-development organization. FOOP relies solely on the generosity of friends and neighbors.
Since its inception just three short years ago, FOOP, as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has accomplished amazing things for Oakhurst Park!
This past month, during our Spruce Up Oakhurst Park project, FOOP planted five crepe myrtle trees and seven pallets of grass!
FOOP donors work tirelessly, year-round with Mark Buse & Pecan Creek Landscape to make sure Oakhurst Park is a lovely, well-maintained venue for all area neighbors to visit, play, picnic and hold social events such as the ONA annual Easter egg hunt, Santa in the Park, Halloweenie Roast, 4th of July celebration, etc.
So, neighbors: PLEASE HELP KEEP OAKHURST PARK “SHADY!"
Donate to FOOP and add your name to the list of neighbors and friends who help keep the grass green and the flowers blooming in Oakhurst Park!
So many among us have been blessed with good health and good fortune. In this season of caring, the members of Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP) would like to give back to the vulnerable among us by collecting items for the disabled of our community.
We are honored to partner with our neighbor, Yoyi Martinez, by sponsoring a “gift box” in Oakhurst Park, Sat. 12/2 & Sun. 12/3, 10:00am to 5:00pm benefiting EXPANCO.
Help make EVERYONE’S holiday brighter by donating NEW unwrapped: men’s & women’s gloves, white socks, hats, shampoo, deodorant, coloring books, toothbrush kits (“Dr. Fresh - $1 @ Dollar Tree), white handkerchiefs, key chains, hair combs, hair brushes, Kleenex, sanitary wipes, etc.
****EXPANCO is a reputable 30 year old organization which trains and employs disabled adults. Former FW City Council Member Danny Scarth, who is physically challenged himself, and who personally knows the challenges of disabled, sits on the Board of the amazing organization. www.expanco.com
****FRIENDS OF OAKHURST PARK (FOOP) is our neighborhood service organization with the mission to maintain, protect, & preserve Oakhurst Park for future generations. www.friendsofoakhurstpark.org
We decided to try to raise $5,000 to make sure we have more than enough to cover all the watering and maintenance bills with some funds left over for emergencies (such as broken sprinklers) and future projects (such as repairs and improvements).
Currently, we are relying on an individual donor to maintain the park. However, that model is not sustainable. We want to make sure that we can keep Oakhurst Park in great condition, even if the generous people we rely on move away, are injured, or have to stop donating. That’s why we raise funds.
100% of everything you donate goes to the park. That’s our commitment to you! Beginning this year, we’ll be collecting bills and specific numbers so that you can see exactly where your money is going. If you ever have any questions about what we use your donations for, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! You can contact us at FriendsOfOakhurstPark@gmail.com or at www.friendsofoakhurstpark.org/contact.
Thank you SO much, again, for your donations! Together, we can achieve our mission to MAINTAIN, PROTECT and PRESERVE Oakhurst Park for future generations.
