SPRUCE UP Oakhurst Park - Cowtown Great American Cleanup

3/13/2022

Comments

March 26th @ 10AM - Oakhurst Park, 2400 Daisy Lane
Hi Neighbors! Grab your rake & garden gloves and come help ‘Spruce Up Oakhurst Park’ during the Cowtown Great American Cleanup!
Oakhurst Park is the heart and hub of Oakhurst. The kiddos say, “it is the best park” in town!” Parents, residents, and neighbors agree but also know Oakhurst Park is SO MUCH more than a fun play space! Oakhurst Park serves as the venue for our neighborhood social events, the designated location for food truck scheduling, and in a couple of weeks, will serve as the neighborhood association voting location regarding serious neighborhood zoning issues. Oakhurst Park serves EVERYONE!

So put on your sunscreen & grab your rake & your garden gloves and walk, run, bike, or drive to the park Saturday, March 26th @ 10AM to help ‘Spruce It Up’ and get it ready for the Easter Bunny and all the 2022 upcoming warm weather events.

There is no better way to give back to your community! The 'Oakhurst Park Spruce Up' is a fun opportunity to visit & chat with your neighbors & gather different perspectives on neighborhood issues all while enjoying chips, drinks, cookies, & the season’s first hot dogs fresh off the grill compliments of FOOP!

Most importantly – come help take care of YOUR park! It’s the HEART of OAKHURST!
See you in the park on 3/26/2022 @ 10AM

Damaged Toucans - Vandalism or Rough Play in Oakhurst Park

11/2/2021

Comments

For the last several months there has been an increase in mischief and vandalism in Oakhurst Park. Irrigation heads have been broken, over 30 white bows of gratitude placed on Oakhurst Park trees honoring first responders were taken, and in the past couple of weeks, vandalism, or at least, extremely rough play at the park resulted in damage to one of the toucans. The toucan’s spring was broken and the steel footrest was bent by what appears to be rough usage by multiple large teenagers or adults. Small children could not cause this degree of damage.
FOOP has been working with the Park Department toward a solution and the damaged toucan was removed from the Oakhurst Park this afternoon. Restoration and repair details will be forthcoming as soon as available in the upcoming FOOP Scoop newsletter.
If you observe vandalism occurring in Oakhurst Park – please call 911.
