Oakhurst resident, James Milburn, organized a fun Nerf Battle in the park over Spring Break. We love seeing our friends and neighbors having fun in the park!
POOP (Pets of Oakhurst Park); KOOP (Kids of Oakhurst Park); & FOOP (Friends of Oakhurst Park) stole the show at the 1st Annual River East Mardi Gras parade with their kids, cars, friends, and floats! Thanks River East for having such a fun event showcasing all the great businesses and organizations of our Riverside community. Thank you Elida Flores for chairing FOOP's entry for this community event. Thank you Layla Zepeda for being the FOOP 'POOP' mascot and thanks River East for inviting FOOP to drive the parade's Grand Marshal, CFW Councilwoman Ann Zadeh! Oakhurst Park is picture perfect for the 2017 Holiday Season. The circa 1986 vintage toy solider is standing watch and the kids of Oakhurst Park are beaming with excitement. Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP), the service organization whose mission is "to maintain, protect and preserve Oakhurst Park for future generations", wishes you and your family a merry Holiday Season and a happy and healthy New Year! http://www.friendsofoakhurstpark.org/ In honor of Luca, Fort Worth PD's Search and Rescue Dog, and just one day after his passing, Luca's sister Isabella and human parents Officer and Mrs. Cole Brock attended Friends of Oakhurst Park (FOOP) 2nd birthday celebration on Saturday, October 14th to honor Luca and his service to our community.
Junior FOOP Friends collected 500 pounds of pet food to donate to the City of Fort Worth Animal shelter in loving memory of Luca and his work to search and rescue the missing in our community. Luca was the finalist for the Hero Dog Award by the American Humane Association joined other dogs in Hollywood for the prestigious awards show. Luca won 1st overall in the Search & Rescue Group !!!! The show will air at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25, on the Hallmark Channel. During the week prior to his passing, Luca and his family became dear 'Friends' of FOOP. Luca will eternally be remembered as a "Pet of Oakhurst Park". RIP Luca.
