ART IN OAKHURST PARK, was a collaborative community endeavor in which FRIENDS OF OAKHURST PARK (FOOP) partnered with Riverside Arts District (RAD) and Carter Riverside High School Art Educators and students to give the iconic Oakhurst Park toucans, dinosaur, park benches, and play backboards a full make-over. ART IN OAKHURST PARK was FOOP's third service project benefiting Oakhurst Park.
Carter Riverside High School art student Guadalupe Ramirez displayed her artistic talent painting bright flowers on the play equipment backboard while artist Sergio Santos added life to the benches in Oakhurst Park. RAD Executive Director Debby Stein was highly instrumental in the success of the project. Other RAD artist & artisan who participated in ART IN OAKHURST PARK: Shiney Penny Workshop; Ginger Cochran Art; Forge & Forage; Designs by Delana; Los Santos Art; JoeArt; Gypsy Scoops; River East Race; and Oakhurst neighbor & RAD Artisan, and Chef Cindy Wheeler. The Art in the Park event was also featured on the local news in a segment by NBC 5's Deborah Ferguson!
Prior to the project dates, Mark Buse and his landscape crew spent multiple days raking, cleaning the park, and preparing planting beds.
FOOP friends are devoted to the well-being of Oakhurst Park and happily donate their time, energy, and resources to make Oakhurst Park a safe and beautiful venue for families to play and the local neighborhood association to hold social events. |
